The Department of Mining Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) has been continuously providing quality education since 1923 and excels in research in several disciplines such as Rock Mechanics and Strata Control, Mine Environment and Ventilation, Mine Planning and Safety etc. The Department has also contributed significantly to the Mining and allied industries by successfully completing several consultancy projects. The International Conference RTSMGEE 2023 on the occasion of Centenary celebrations is being organized by the Department of Mining Engineering, IIT(BHU) at IIT(BHU), Varanasi from 3rd to 5th November, 2023. RTSMGEE 2023 will provide an excellent opportunity to all Mining and Civil Engineering professionals as well as Energy experts from industry and academics to come together in the City of Knowledge to share their work and experience. This conference will also provide a platform for the Alumni of the Department of Mining Engineering to reminisce and relive the good old days.

The Department is looking to strengthen its core Mining expertise and also expand in allied domains such as Energy Research, Tunnelling and Caverns, Waste-to-Wealth and IoT in Geotechnics. The Department is also willing to establish Centenary Chair Professorship to conduct collaborative and advanced R&D at the institute.
