Welcome Message
The aim of the conference is to celebrate the 100th birthday of Living legend, battery pioneer, and Nobel laureate Prof. John B. Goodenough (Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2019) and recognition of rechargeable Li-ion battery technology. The conference is themed on the emergence of hydrogen economy in the arena of post-fossil fuel technologies and emerging zero-emission technologies, especially for automobile industries. Filling the gap between fuel cells and rechargeable battery technologies to overcome the challenges imposed by existing fossil fuel-based technologies are the main agendas of the conference.

Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi (abbreviated IIT (BHU) Varanasi or simply IIT BHU) is a public engineering institution located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. Founded in 1919 as the Banaras Engineering College, it became the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University in 1968. It was designated an Indian Institute of Technology in 2012. IIT (BHU) Varanasi has 14 departments and 3 inter-disciplinary schools.

Varanasi is a city in the northern India state of Uttar Pradesh and regarded as the spiritual capital of India. The city is sacred to Hindus and Jains and also one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, with settlements dating back to the 11th century BC. Sarnath, a place located 10 kilometers north-east of Varanasi where Gautam Buddha first taught the dhamma, and where the Buddhist sangha came into existence through the enlightenment of Kondanna.

I welcome you all to the international conference 'Beyond Fossil Fuels: The Future of Alternative Technology (B:FAT-2020)'. This conference is in the context of the development of alternative energy technologies and new energy challenges imposed by portable electronics revolution coupled with the development of rechargeable lithium batteries. The conference is going to provide a unique opportunity to the participants gathering from various part of the world to make a sincere effort towards the development of zero-emission technologies. I hope that the conference will provide an opportunity to exchange knowledge, vision and motivation for the development of efficient renewal technologies that can provide a better future for the world.
